Arthur Miller’s compelling dramatisation of the hellish Salem witchcraft trials, quickly became a central and revolutionary work in the canon of American drama. The play also symbolically marked the return home of the Lyric in its new haven on Ridgeway Street. 

With a cast of 22 actors, The Crucible was an ideal opportunity to showcase superb local talent in the beautiful new theatre. The production won praise from audiences and critics alike, and set the tone for subsequent Lyric productions
