Nobel Laureate Shaw is a stalwart of the Lyric repertoire; he is the third most produced playwright from the South of Ireland after Yeats and O’Casey. Arms and the Man has been produced 3 times: in 1973, 1992 and 2006. This last production was directed by Richard Croxford: Richard had appeared in the 1992 production of the play as the Officer, and he would go on to serve as the theatre’s Artistic Director for five years from 2008. This 2006 production featured Karen Hassan as Raina, who would go on to appear on the tv soap opera Hollyoaks between 2010 and 2013, and play Lisa in BBCNI’s 2018 comedy series Soft Border Patrol.
