The Lyric premiered Tea In A China Cup in which three generations of Protestant Belfast share memories of family pride, tradition and possessions.
Christina Reid, a Thames TV Award winner became Writer-in-Residence at the Lyric, and would go on to hold the same position at the Young Vic and to premiere two of her plays at the National Theatre in London. Her 1989 play The Belle of Belfast City was awarded the Royal Court’s prestigious George Devine Award.
